This swirl of colors doubles as a site plan for an urban farm in Detroit and is the latest installment in my long running Unfunded series. Across from the iconic ruins of Michigan Central Station sits a 150 by 160 foot parcel of land known as the Imagination Station. The project has run into some tangles and is seeking an alternate path. This plan picks up from my Napa Midwest concept and heads in a new direction with a mandala-like layout and an indigenous aesthetic. Proposed uses include organic vegetable plots, produce stands, public art space, café, garden dining, pub, local artisan shops, and a live venue. The hope is to draw and retain some new energy in this reemerging neighborhood known as Corktown.
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe. ―Anatole France
